Awakening Kundalini and Embracing Shakti Wisdom
The Rise of the Snake Goddess
The snake, a symbol found across the world in ancient traditions, has long been associated with deep feminine power, transformation, and wisdom. Whether you know her as Kundalini, Nagini, or the Yin Wood Snake, her presence represents a connection to one of our planet's oldest and most sacred emblems of the feminine—The Serpent Goddess.
In 2025, we find ourselves stepping into a unique time in history, with both the Tibetan and Chinese calendars aligning to mark the next eleven months as a period under the influence of the She Serpent. Her arrival is no coincidence, as we witness the dismantling of patriarchal structures that have dominated for millennia. The tower of the old world crumbles, and in its place, the divine feminine begins to rise.
Emerging from the earth, water, and hidden spaces, the Serpent Goddess reclaims her power. Her presence calls forth transformation, rebirth, and protection, embodied by Nagini, the fierce and divine protectress. With her energy becoming more palpable in our lives, it’s the perfect time to explore her wisdom through the practice of Shakti Yoga.
The Vedic Connection: Kundalini and Shakti
While the concept of Kundalini as a serpent energy coiled at the base of the spine became prominent in later yogic and tantric traditions, its roots can be traced back to the Vedic philosophy. The Vedas, ancient spiritual texts from India, speak of Prana (life force) and its movement through the body, which laid the foundation for Kundalini energy.
The Upanishads, part of the Vedic corpus, describe the inner spiritual potential that can be unlocked through meditation, breath control (pranayama), and ritual. The idea of tapas (spiritual heat generated through discipline) in the Vedas is a precursor to the awakening of Kundalini, which mirrors the rising of the Snake Goddess from the depths of the earth, water, and hidden realms.
Similarly, Shakti, the divine feminine energy, is implicit in the Vedas as the dynamic, creative force of the universe. While the Vedas primarily focus on masculine deities like Indra and Agni, the power behind these gods is often attributed to their female counterparts, signaling the essential role of the feminine in maintaining cosmic balance. In later traditions, Shakti is revered as the ultimate creative force, aligning with the blog’s focus on the rise of feminine power through the embodiment of the Serpent Goddess.
The Significance of Nagini and the Serpent Goddess
In various cultures, the serpent has been a symbol of rebirth, wisdom, and the cycles of life. In Hinduism, Nagini is revered as the protector of wealth and fertility, embodying both the nurturing and fierce aspects of the feminine. Similarly, Kundalini, often depicted as a coiled snake, represents untapped spiritual potential, waiting to be awakened.
In 2025, we are witnessing a resurgence of this divine energy. With the arrival of the She Serpent, it is time to honor and embrace the feminine power within each of us. The ancient tradition of Navaratri, celebrated in India as the Nine Nights of the Goddess, aligns perfectly with this moment, offering a sacred opportunity to delve into Shakti Wisdom and Nagini teachings.
Serpent Symbolism in the Vedas
The serpent holds significant meaning in Vedic thought as well. Serpents, or Nagas, are occasionally mentioned in the Vedas, often associated with water, fertility, and protection. In the Atharva Veda, serpents are linked to both healing and danger, representing a duality of power that is both creative and destructive—much like the feminine energy of Shakti. The rising of the serpent symbolizes cycles of death and rebirth, similar to the spiritual awakening of Kundalini.
As the Vedas laid the groundwork for spiritual disciplines, the snake’s transformative symbolism evolved into the concept of Kundalini in later yoga and tantric traditions. The Serpent Goddess rising from the earth mirrors the Vedic understanding of cosmic cycles, where rebirth and renewal follow destruction and dissolution.
